註釋William Ferguson Slemons was born 15 March 1830 in Dresden, Weakley Co., Tennessee. He was a descendant of Thomas Slemons who was born in Perth, Scotland and immigrated to America ca. 1723. Thomas settled in Pennsylvania. William married Martha Susan Howard 13 December 1855 in Drew Co., Arkansas. They lived in Monticello, Arkansas and were the parents of seven children. Descendants lived in Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, California and elsewhere.
