註釋
The growth of high-rise structures in the area protected by the Sacramento Fire Department has shown a sharp increase in the 1980's. In the first eighty years of this century we amassed approximately 3.3 million square feet of commercial buildings up to fifteen stories in height. The next fifteen years, 1980 through 1995, will add an additional ten million square feet with buildings reaching thirty plus stories. This amount of upward growth has made it apparent there is a need for an in depth plan of action for the one situation a fire department particularly dreads, a serious fire in the upper levels of a high-rise building. The Sacramento Fire Department has began to conduct yearly drills using actual high-rise buildings to simulate such fires. If and when an incident of this type does present itself, we will be able to cope with problems presented in the most efficient manner possible.
