註釋Memoir of his early life in Minnesota, University of Minnesota education, with a degree in aeronautical engineering, joined the Navy, assigned to the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics High Speed Flight Station in the Mojave Desert, graduated from the Naval Post Graduate School in 1962 where he specialized in electronics engineering and was designated a naval engineering duty officer. He worked in the Naval Tactical Data System Project Office on a project to use digital computers on navy ships. His memoir describes the use of digital computers in naval weapons systems and his writing of the book "When Computers Went to Sea."
