Internet, Small Businesses and Economic Activity
註釋This study presents a simple version of the Dixit-Stiglitz model to investigate the link between internet and small businesses. It aims to contribute to the literature in three ways. First, different from most related studies, a general equilibrium framework is used. Thus, the effects of internet on small businesses and on the economy, which in turn affects small business, are analyzed. Second, following current discussion in the literature, the model distinguishes between “innovative” and “replicative” entrepreneurship. Third, it emphasizes a different channel through which internet may contribute to economic growth. By raising the proportion of the population engaged in innovative entrepreneurship, internet increases real income and welfare.
