Generalists First: The Movement to Refashion General Practice in Post-World War II America
註釋The GP movement brought about innovations in postgraduate medical education, and methods for monitoring hospital medical staff performance. Through their efforts to secure a place in the hospital, and their push for clear competence based regulations for obtaining and maintaining hospital privileges, GPs were an important part of 1950s hospital reforms. Leaders of the AAGP became active participants on key national hospital policy committees and were members of the first Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation. Throughout, they faced threats to their professional authority including pressure from outside American medicine.
