One large group of letters consists of the courtship letters of Susan and her husband, Lewis Cowper Lawrence (1840-1908) and letters exchanged after their marriage, on 11 September 1867, when Lewis was on business trips. A second consists of letters from Susan's mother, Mary Ann (Pipkin) (Wynns) Southall (1810-1900), mostly written in the 1890s. A third group of letters consists of those received from Rosena Hart Lassiter (Zenie or Zene) a close friend of Susan"--Page 1
