註釋John Griffin (1804-1876) married Mary Chapman in 1828, and immigrated in 1846 from England to Benton Township, Lake County, Illinois. Mary and two daughters died in 1851 during a cholera epiemic. John took a second wife, Harriet Kirk, in 1853. Descendants and relatives lived in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Wisconsin and elsewhere.
