註釋Born in Dublin in 1916, Louis le Brocquy's paternal grandfather came to Ireland from Belgium. His mother was a well-known figure in Dublin's artistic life and, encouraged by her, Louis left the family business to become a painter. In 1947 le Brocquy established himself in London as a self-taught artist of considerable originality. In 1958 he married the young Irish painter, Anne Madden, the author of this book. They live and work in France and Ireland.
