註釋
Kids join Oliver and his friends at his birthday party! While everybody's having fun, boys and girls also learn to count to ten by adding one number at a time when each new party guest arrives. When the party is over, the guests leave, one by one, and kids learn to subtract one number at a time. This learn-to-count book for children has heavy card stock pages, each page stepped in size, so that from numbers 1 through 10, each succeeding page is about a half-inch wider than the previous page. Then working back and subtracting from 10 through 1, the remaining pages are successively a half-inch less wide. When the front cover is opened, the book's imaginative design displays a rainbow of color bands showing the first ten page borders simultaneously. Numbers are spelled and written at each page border's top, with charming little illustrations of the party guests at each border's bottom. As kids turn the pages, they see full illustrations and join the party guests in all their fun. The design is reversed at the back of the book for the subtraction pages. Here's great ways for preschool kids to start learning how to count, add, and subtract.
