Positivism in Criminological Thought
註釋This book explores the development of intellectual positivism within criminological thought. Positivism is a control-oriented philosophy, justifying and rationalizing control, that is most developed within criminology during economic contractions. These contractions are often accompanied by social unrest which can be reasonably perceived by the most powerful members of society as a threat to their status and livelihood. Hence the appeal of positivism and its justification of social control to the higher and middle classes.
