註釋I am an entomologist, not a photographer. Whenever I see photographs of insects, or anything pertaining to them, I am at first filled with admiration, but only too often closer examination reveals incongruities or even quite undisguised faking. This is to be deplored. After all, the camera, used purely as a tool for recording observations made in the field, should give us not only a picture of the insect but also of its immediate surroundings, and not of an arranged setting. To the naturalist these very surroundings are of the utmost importance, showing him how the species fits into the general pattern of things. An insect isolated from its surroundings often fails to convey to him the fullmeaning of its form and of its colouration.
