Biography:
Emilio Salgari (1862-1911) was an Italian writer, sailor, and journalist. He wrote mainly adventure novels set in the most varied places - such as Malaysia, the Pacific Ocean, the West Indies, the Indian jungle, the desert and jungle of Africa, the western United States, the jungles of Australia and even the arctic seas. He created characters, perhaps the best known of them being the pirate Sandokan and the Black Corsair, who fueled the imaginations of millions of readers. In Spanish-speaking countries his work was particularly popular, at least until the 1970s and 1980s.
