Government Response to the Education and Skills Committee Report on Special Educational Needs (October 2006)
註釋This response is arranged in four sections: 1 - responds to the Select Committee's call for a major review of special educational needs provision; 2 - responds to the call for a national framework with local flexibility for meeting special educational needs; 3 - sets out the Government's priorities for action over the period 2006-09; 4 - responds to individual recommendations. Although the Government proposes a number of specific actions it does not agree with the need for a fundamental review. It believes that such a review would distract progress being made through the 'Every Child Matters' programme and the action set out in 'Removing Barriers to Achievement'.
