This article analyses the relation between economic growth and poverty in Uruguay, considering the period 1991-2006. The economic literature about poverty and growth has become very profuse during the last years. In this article, we summarize the concepts of pro-poor growth and the methodologies to address this topic. We then apply two well-known methods (growth incidence curves and poverty decompositions) to consider the link between poverty and economic growth in different sub-periods.
