A name change from Sun Bank/Southwest NA to Sun Bank of Lee County NA preceeded a relocation to Fort Meyers, where the bank sought to position itself as a market leader. Sun Bank celebrated the change by holding a gala luncheon to which it invited 200 prominent local business people and media representatives. Invitations tied to builders bricks were delivered to the guests, who were asked to bring the bricks with them to the luncheon. The bricks, inscribed with the guests names, would be used to make a walkway to the bank's new building. Response to the promotion was enthusiastic with 81% of those invited attending. The bank also received newspaper and television coverage of its promotion.
