註釋"Born and raised in western Kansas, Marguerite I. Long earned her Bachelors and Masters of Music degrees from the University of Kansas before traveling to Paris on a Fulbright grant in the fall of 1958. Her virtually weekly letters home were preserved by her mother, and are a record of this unique time of her life. She studied with acclaimed organists Jean Langlais and Maurice Durufle, and took classes with the famed Nadia Boulanger. Marguerite's experiences with these musicians, her love of Paris and the plethora of opportunities she was given, her reactions to the places she traveled to, and even her struggles with the French language are reflected in her letters. It was a time to which she always looked back fondly, and reading her letters, it's easy to understand why."--Back cover.
