The Satanist's Son
註釋Dennis Wheatley introduced us to; Duc de Richleau, Rex Van Ryan, Richard Eaton and Simon Aron in his first book, The Forbidden Territory in 1933. Wheatley said that he deliberately based the characters on the four friends of the Dumas novel The Three Musketeers. He killed the Duc de Richleau off in 1960 at the age of 85 and this story is set two years after the Duke's death involving the remaining 'Modern Musketeers' in a new adventure. I have tried to bring some of Wheatley's themes up to date, particularly around black magic and Satanism, through the introduction of a more sceptical approach, which Wheatley enthusiasts may not like, but I hope the story is good enough to entertain. There are some other modern issues that would never have been addressed by Wheatley but despite this, the book is intended to be a small tribute to his imagination and creativity. It is not trying to be a copy of Wheatley's style but only to use his characters to inhabit the story and should therefore, be read with this in mind.
