Calculated expression
註釋A catalogue of collective exhibition that confronts the graphic art of three expressionist Brazilian artists: Oswaldo Goeldi (1895-1961), Lasar Segall (1891-1957) and Iberé Camargo (1914-1994). By putting the three noted artists togheter, curator Vera Beatriz Siqueira reinfores their aesthetic sililarities while highlighting their differnces in printmaking: their prints share their strong lines but difer in the way they portrait the excluded and the marginalized. Goeldi's figures, often vagabounds, roam without destination, usually accompanied by animals. Segall reveals in his work the discomfort of a foreigner, living in "favelas". Iberé Camargo's "idiots", are apathic beings with crooked faces, unable to react to their surrounding reality.
