註釋
Previous archaeological survey was conducted within the project area during September 19-22 1986 at the request of the USDA Forest Service, Ketchikan Area, Tongass National Forest. West Sound Associates, Inc. contracted with Lyle T. Hubbard and Wallace M. 0lson, archaeological consultants from the University of Alaska, Juneau. Additional investigations were conducted on June 10, 1987 by John T. Autrey, Ketchikan Area Archaeologist, and June 27-29; July 12, 1989 by Autrey, Patrick Bower and Risa Carlson, archaeologists and Kathleen Wasserman, volunteer student archaeologist who intensively surveyed a proposed road from the docking facility to the operations facility area and additional survey of the island and intertidal areas . The results of these investigations located one culturally modified tree (CMT) within the area of direct impact that was designated cultural site Ket-298. Two archaeological sites, KET-296 and KET-297, were located outside of the project area. These sites have been determined to be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. A total of 49 CMT'S were documented as isolated finds during the 1989 survey. A clearance for the proposed project is recommended provided that the potential effects on Ket-296, KET-297, KET-298 are mitigated to achieve a "No Adverse Effect" finding in consultation with the Alaska State Historic Preservation Office.
