Miss Jerry by Alexander Black, Edited by Michael Slankard
註釋In the days before moving picture movies, directors were producing one picture, short documentary films. Alexander Black had an idea of making the first feature-length dramatic fiction on screen. Black's 1894 American feature length black and white pre film picture play helped birth the movie industry. Alexander Black produced an early version of the first feature of moving pictures by lantern light. This photo play 'Miss Jerry' tells a audible story while the pictures move you through the story, with the slides changing once every 15 seconds, while Black provided the voice for every character. Miss Jerry was first shown on October 9, 1894 at the Carbon Studio in New York City. 'Miss Jerry' finished showing in 1907. The play was so successful that his fans clamored for a novel version of the picture play. Black (1859-1940) was known as an author, photographer, newspaper man, and the inventor of the pre-cinema.
