註釋Today the olive is grown in areas with a Mediterranean climate and is, in many cases, of interest in countries that do not have strong economies and whose scientific activity and influence is thus limited. As a result, despite the fact that the plant has been the object of studies over millennia, there are still many aspects of its development that have not been sufficiently explored, and these include the distribution of the species and its taxonomy. This document presents a focused review of such topics in order to provide a foundation for those who may wish to contribute further to the generation of knowledge about this plant.
