註釋
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a condition characterized by the inappropriate formation of blood clots within the venous system. While it commonly affects the pulmonary arteries and the lower limbs, it can also occur in unusual sites such as the splanchnic veins or the cerebral venous system, known as thrombosis in unusual sites (TUS). The exact incidence of TUS is not well defined.COVID-19 infection has also been associated with VTE, although the true incidence and recurrence risk remain unclear. Diagnosis of VTE primarily relies on clinical suspicion. In some cases, a D-dimer test may be performed to assist in identifying patients with a higher likelihood of VTE, typically in conjunction with a clinical pretest score. Nevertheless, the use of D-dimer levels in TUS is not widespread, and specific cut-off levels have not been established for each type of TUS. Its usefulness has also been questioned in COVID-19 patients due to the coagulopathy that can develop in severe cases...
