This note presents a technique, called the Enhanced Wetness Difference Index, for mapping red-attack trees (trees with red needles following severe attack by mountain pine beetle) using satellite imagery. Advantages of using satellite imagery for this purpose are noted and the steps in the technique are illustrated using the example of an area affected by the beetle near Prince George, British Columbia.
