Mamm of Dunnottar
註釋The Voice of Mamm of Dunnottar has taken us far back in time. As we join her family at the hearth-circle of the roundhouse, we listen in as she tells the Story of her heirloom under-bed storage chest and its Keepers, the women of her family. The little oaken chest carries many things in the course of its travels, but the most important of all lies not in the small carved box itself, nor in any of the items that have found temporary safety within it, although some of them are indeed significant. No, the Legacy represented by this under-bed storage chest is the Legacy of the family which has it in their care. This Family struggles, in a rapidly changing world, to protect and preserve that which is most important to them, and the Story that Mamm of Dunnottar tells at the fireside of an evening reflects their struggles, their painful sacrifices, and their ultimate triumph. The Voice of Mamm of Dunnottar has taken us through the Story of Mamm of Perth, of MammTwo of Tarnos, of LittleMamm of Iona, and now she has to try to tell her own Story. She gets some help from her friends along the way; some parts are difficult, to put it mildly. It is during the lifetime of Mamm of Dunnottar that the Roman Empire divides and falls apart. It is in her lifetime that Rome itself is sacked for the first time in something like 700 years. It is in her lifetime that Christianity, the Roman version of it, becomes an increasing threat to those who prefer to follow their own long-established ways of worshiping the Holy Trinity.Through it all this family does what it has to do when it has to do it, and pays a high price.Yet our people succeed.FaithFamilyFriendshipFreedomFutureThese are the Legacy for which our people have lived and died to preserve and protect, come what may. This Legacy, the Story that carries it from one generation to the next to the next, and the Song that goes along with it, is our own inheritance. It is now our own Voices that will Sing that Song.ChoiceCreation, Life, Death, EternityPeaceFaithHealingHopeLoveUnityThese are the Voices - the Songs within the SONG, of the Holy Trinity. Each and all of us has a Part to Sing. The family of so long ago did indeed succeed, else our Voices would have no Song today. And now we are the Keepers.'Into your Keeping. Keep it well.'One day we too will be able to say:'We did it.''We did it.'And our future generations will have their own Song to Sing, and Voices unafraid to take up the melodies.
