註釋An introductory book accompanying an exhibition of the same name, in recognition of the work by Catherine Augusta, Catherine Penwarne, Sarah, and Grace Mitchell. Sarah Mitchell and Grace Mitchell worked together in the 20th century to compile a dedicatory scrapbook to Sarah's older sister, Catherine Penwarne, known as 'Dear Kate' who died in 1878. Sarah's work completed a collaboration between herself and Kate which resulted in a vast collection of rare pen and ink drawings and annotations responding to their family and community activities during the 19th century on the east coast of Tasmania. The images in the book are courtesy of the artist, Jane Giblin (a series of watercolours and lithographs responding to Dear Kate's drawings), alongside some of those from the Sarah Mitchell Scrapbook, which appear courtesy of the Utas Special and Rare Collections, The Royal Society of Tasmania, RS 32/89. The book contains other images courtesy of the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts, and the Mitchell family collection, as well as introductions by Jane Giblin and Dr Anita Hansen (Honorary Curator of Visual Arts for The Royal Society of Tasmania), and an essay by Delia Nicholls. The exhibition, Dear Kate, the vision of the Mitchell women, by Jane Giblin will tour from its first iteration at The Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts, to the East Coast Heritage Museum, Swansea, Tasmania, The Bright Art Gallery and Cultural Centre, Victoria and the Launceston Library, Tasmania, between August 2023 and March 2025.
