註釋
Diary kept by Archbold as he traveled to participate in the Mission Zoologique franco-anglo-américaine à Madagascar. Primarily details his time traveling along the eastern African coast aboard the Bernardis de St. Pierre, and then upon travel to Tananarive. Data includes weather, coordinates of the ship, observations of scenery, animals, and local activities and customs. Describes the crossing of the equator aboard the ship, and some entries describe the beginning of his collecting activities. The Mission Zoologique franco-anglo-américaine à Madagascar was an expedition to Madagascar coordinated with and represented by delegates from French, English and American institutions. Archbold's father had provided the sponsorship for the American Museum of Natural History to participate, and Archbold joined the expedition as photographer and collector.
