註釋The exhibition gathers artwork by contemporary artists from various countries displayed along more than 100 ancient art pieces of the tropical regions of Asia, Latin America and Africa from the holdings of the Ethnological Museum of Berlin. The aim of the event is to determine and identify the relationship between the artwork created previous to modernity and contemporary art, highlighting the radical differences and fundamental influence of the "Art of the Tropics", and how this aesthetic richness of strong spiritual content lost its innocence and has transformed into Third World "primitive" folkart. Catalogue includes critical essays by curators Alfons Hug, Viola König, and Peter Junge and by renowned experts Ticio Escobar and Fernando Cocchiarale.
