Field work was conducted during the summers of 1952 and 1953 ... Mapping was done on topographic quadrangles supplemented by aerial photographs, sections were measured wherever exposed, and an orchard type auger and a screw type auger were used to obtain samples where exposures were not available. Samples were taken of calcareous till wherever it was found, but sections showing such till were far less common than expected.
