註釋This excavation makes a valuable contribution to our knowledge both of the military system and of daily life (especially for traders and travellers) in the Late Roman and Early Byzantine periods. Upper Zohar Fort is one of a number of small, but strategically significant, sites in theNorthern Negev, with majestic views of the Judean Wilderness and the Arava Valley. This volume publishes a detailed account of the excavation and finds, including unequivocal evidence for the date of construction and use. Dry conditions contributed to the unusual preservation of finds, and thezooarchaeology reports by leading experts are of particular interest.
