註釋
A tour de force of a memoir in an unmistakably Australian voice. Often humorous, always with a heart for the underdog, Fragments From a Forgettory could also be described as a kind of love story. A cornucopia of reflection, comment and humorous insight. Good-humoured, often witty, sometimes opinionated, it draws the reader into the Australian experience from the beginning to the present. A spiritual journey of a kind. A cascade of personal thoughts, wry insights and slyly humorous musings are offered in an invitational tone. A compelling read about an astonishing Australian life that is also a journey through half a dozen of the white tribes of Oz, against the historical backdrop of a British and Irish convict underclass creating an often-envied antipodean democracy. Author Bio-A seventh generation Australian with a strong convict heritage, Doug Buckley was born in country New South Wales and grew up mainly in Broken Hill. As well as lecturing in engineering at universities in Australia, Japan and Europe from an academic base at the University of New South Wales, he has worked in research, planning, construction and economics within the engineering field. He and his English-born wife Rosemary have three children and twelve grandchildren. Doug has published long and short fiction, his unpublished novel, One Black Bureaucrat being short-listed for the ABC Bicentennial Literary Award.
