註釋Mercy Hutchinson, daughter of Samuel Hutchinson (d. 1828) and Mercy Randall, was born in 1822 in Buckfield, Maine. She married Dexter Jones in 1844 in Durahm, Maine. They had four children. They migrated to Texas in about 1845. He died in about 1855. She married Aaron Collins, son of Aaron Collins and Lucy Harrington, in 1859 in Galveston, Texas. They had one son. She died in Texas in 1898. A short biographical sketch along with a sample of her poetry is included in this volume.
