Melora is taken from her home world of Stargor as a child and hidden on Earth for her protection, when it is revealed that she is to be the next wielder of the Fireblood. Heliades, a fallen god, wants dominion over Stargor. The only thing that can defeat him is the Fireblood. Twelve years later, Melora is discovered by the forces of evil and returned to Stargor for training. Her protector and betrothed, Jitsun, dies in place of her. Can she summon the courage to bring him back to life? The story ends with this dilemma, and continues in Book Two entitled "The Wardens of Stargor."
