Palmer in New Orleans (Louisiana), to Reverend William Martin in Columbia (South Carolina), thanking him for his expression of sympathy following the recent death of Palmer's wife of 47 years, Mary Augusta McConnell Palmer (1822-1888), who had passed away on 13 November 1888 at the age of 66.
