Cellular and Biochemical Sciences are all encompassing and dealing with areas of zoology, botany, biochemistry and biotechnology. Therefore writing and editing a book on such a vast topic is itself a very arduous task. Dr. Tripathi took this responsibility and could edit a multi-authored book containing 58chapters divided into 19 parts. The book begins with cell organelles and cell cycle and goes in-depth into biocatalysis and kinetics, hormone and signal transduction. Then it focuses on structure and function of nucleic acids and chromosome and heterochromatization, mutation and transposition and cell differentiation and development. Special emphasis is laid on genomics and proteomics, PCR and gene silencing, carcinogensis, gene technology and tissue culture. The book also describe electrophoresis and cytometry, gel filtration and chromatography, biophysical methods in biology and bioinformatics and some topics on immunology and monoclonal antibodies, microbes, toxins and antibiotics and nucleic acid sequencing and hybridization. Apart from covering many diverse aspects of molecular biology, the book provides review questions and multiple choice questions which will help the reader to appear for competitive examinations with more confidence. The book, however, requires editing. To quote an example, on page 649, Kary Mullis has been referred K. Mullis. The editor will certainly look into such matters and rectify the mistake(s) in the next edition.
