Material in architecture and design
註釋Polymethylmethacrylate, known under the brand name Plexiglas, is one of the major developments of the 20th century - a material with such multi-faceted uses that it would be hard to imagine life without it. On the market since 1933, Plexiglas not only became indispensable in the construction of cars and airplanes but was also used in architecture and design. In the 1950s, the material became popular: jukeboxes, illuminated advertising or organically shaped dishes, eccentric handbags and angular furniture announce the triumphal march of the synthetic material. Today, the design possibilities are more wideranging than ever and the material is popular with contemporary designers.
