註釋Paths & Poetry is a celebration of walking the footpaths, waterways and canals of Great Britain and combines in one lavishly-illustrated volume the writings of two journalist friends - linking the travel features of Nigel Heath with the poems of Peter Gibbs.

In nearly four decades of long distance walking these intrepid companions have covered some 4,000 miles and have had countless adventures along the way, many of which are detailed here.

Nigel's features bring to vivid life the rich variety of the places they have visited - from tiny hamlets and country villages to large towns and cities - and the many and varied characters they have met during their travels across the landscape.

Meanwhile Peter's poems rejoice in the beauty of nature and the joys of experiencing the ever-changing kaleidoscope of the British countryside through the seasons.

Each of the walks described was carefully planned with the aid of guide books, ordnance survey maps and Google, while sturdy boots, rucksacks with waterproof liners and wet weather gear meant the pair were prepared for all types of terrain and whatever the British climate could throw at them.

We hope this book will provide both entertaining armchair reading and an encouragement to get out and explore the great outdoors, which, thanks to a network of long-established footpaths and bridleways, still remains uniquely accessible.
