註釋
Abstract: An attempt is made to identify relationships between the geochemical environment and certain diseases: cancer, cardiovascular disease and urolithiasis. The sources of trace elements and simple inorganic compounds are discussed, as well as radioactive elements. Water quality and soil types are analyzed and related to plant foods and the bioavailability of trace elements. There are plants that accumulate certain elements, such as selenium, fluorine and zinc. Phytates are an example of the interaction of substances within plants. The effects on food of processing, sewage--recycling and coal fly ash are considered. Data and maps show the links of environmental factors to the diseases.
