Scotland in Ancient Europe
註釋In 2003 a conference organised by the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, and held in honour of Professor Stuart Piggot, brought together an impressive line-up of scholars carrying out research on the prehistory of Scotland. Twenty-four papers are published in this book, focusing on transformations in the landscape, settlements, tombs and monuments, art, artefacts and chronology. Two papers comprise an appreciation of Stuart Piggott's contribution to the subject. Contents include: A history of the Neolithic of Scotland (G J Barclay); The implications of Irish Neolithic houses (Eoin Grogan); Absolute chronology (P J Ashmore); A distant view of Scottish monuments in Europes (Ian Kinnes); The ritual universe (Julian Thomas); Neolithic stone axe quarries and production sites (G Cooney); Migdale-Murdoch: sunbursts of Scottish metallurgy (Stuart Needham); Faience in Early Bronze Age Ireland (A Sheridan and A Shortland) .
