Lorna Doone (Unabridged)
註釋Lorna Doone has it all--thrills, sweet romantic moments, suspense, politics, dangerous fights, severe weather, beautiful maidens, valiant heroic men, dirty villains, cunning men of prestige, and even country-living. R. D. Blackmore makes it easy for readers to slip into a bygone world and live in history's shadow within its pages. Though not popularized by scholars and literature experts, Lorna Doone is definitely worthy of more attention. The story takes place during the later 17th century England during Charles II reign after the civil war, when the rural areas were still in need of law and order. John Ridd, the storyteller and hero of the book, is strong, fearless, and has a heart of gold. There is even a Robin Hood-like thief who robs the rich to give to the poor. All in all a wonderful read.
