After Penguin acquired McPhee Gribble in 1989, McPhee remained with the imprint as publisher for two years, before joining Pan Macmillan. From 1994 to 1997 she was Chair of the Australia Council and is currently Vice Chancellor's Fellow at the University of Melbourne.
