Description: Volume relating to the activities of the Eastern Enquiry Commissioners between 1822 and 1825. Contains documents concerning the Albany settlement in the Cape Colony, land grants to Henry Nourse, currency and revenue, agriculture, Dutch settlers, and the case of William Edwards, who was later sentenced to seven years' transportation for publishing a private libel against Henry Charles Somerset. Also features an index (f.363). Two items are extracted from this volume (MPG 1/897/1 and MPG 1/897/2).
