註釋India must treat recovery from the coronavirus pandemic as an opportunity to remedy long-standing problems with its economy. If left untreated, these problems could precipitate other crises. Deep economic transformation is essential if India is to make the most of the opportunities that lie outside its borders. In turn, the emphasis on long-term economic growth and stability will provide India greater leverage in exploring new geostrategic opportunities, including in such frontier areas as global technology standards. Importantly, it will also provide the country with the means to invest in the urgently needed strategic transformation of its military. In our research-led journey, we shall continue to engage with and consult the government, the private sector, and other experts on a range of issues across three broad interrelated areas: political economy, technology, and foreign policy.
