Teaching Calculation and Discrimination Early in the Curriculum
註釋Abstract: "Programmers and systems analysts -- and many computing scientists -- tend to avoid formal reasoning (and even the use of mathematics to achieve rigorous descriptions of their problems) in their everyday work, and this affects their ability to work effectively. One long-range solution to this problem is to begin teaching calculational methods in programming and mathematics in the freshman year in such a way that students develop a skill with the methods, and not just a passing understanding. The intent would be to instill the idea that mathematical techniques can help and to encourage a sense of discrimination, of making judgements on technical matters based on technical concerns
